Benovolence
People spell "love" . . . T - I - M - E
"...making the most of
every opportunity, because the days are evil."
Ephesians 5:16
Purpose:
"for I was hungry and you
gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took
me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in
prison and you came to Me. ...Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to
one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. ...Come you blessed of
My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you... ." (Matt:25:34-36)
To better fulfill this teaching, the benevolence ministry combines our efforts to
feed, clothe, and house those in need of help.
Objectives: Provide for the needs of our
brethren, members of the community, and transients. In reaching out to these, we
try to help them through counseling in problem areas of their lives, including
financial, marital, addictions, and especially spiritual areas.
Meals for Needy:
In addition to using our pantry to feed anyone who comes hungry to
us, we are trying to reach out into the highways and byways to provide prepared
meals at the church building three times during the year, tentatively during
March, June, and September.
Holiday Assistance:
The December holiday season is a very trying time for many, both in our
congregation and in the community. During this season, we try to find five
families that we can minister to in order to make this a joyous season. We will
provide food baskets, clothing, and provide our members names to get presents
for the children of these families.
How You Can Help:
This ministry is open to men and women, young and old, married and
single to visit, prepare and serve meals, study with others, and befriend souls
in need. What a great opportunity to show the love of God to someone who may be
without hope.
